Privacy Policy for BrewRadar
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Welcome to BrewRadar!
BrewRadar ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BrewRadar mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App to discover coffee shops and connect with the local vibe.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide the core functionality of the App—helping you find nearby coffee shops and understand the real-time crowd dynamics.
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: If you choose to create an account, we may collect basic information such as your email address, username, and password.
- Demographic Information (Gender): To power our crowd radar feature, we ask you to voluntarily provide your gender identity in the App settings. This is required for the "crowd radar" feature to function accurately.
B. Information We Collect Automatically
- Precise Location Data: This is the core of BrewRadar. We collect your precise real-time geolocation data from your device to determine which coffee shop you are currently in or near. This allows your presence to contribute to the aggregate "vibe check" of that location.
- Device and Usage Data: We automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with the App, such as your IP address, device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect primarily to provide the service you expect:
- To Provide the "Crowd Radar" Feature: We use your Precise Location Data combined with your selected Gender to calculate aggregate, anonymous statistics about the crowd density and gender breakdown at specific coffee shops in real-time. Crucially, your individual presence is anonymized in this process; other users see aggregate numbers, not your specific location or identity.
- To Improve the App: We use usage data to analyze trends, administer the App, track users’ movements around the App, and gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.
- To Communicate with You: We may use your email address to send you service-related notices, updates, or promotional materials (you can opt-out of promotional emails).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share information in the following situations:
- Aggregated Data: We share anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., "There are approximately 20 people at this cafe, with a 60/40 gender split") with other users of the App in real-time.
- Service Providers: We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our App (e.g., map providers, analytics services, hosting services). These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information where required to do so by law or subpoena.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
- Location Data for Radar: Precise location data used for the real-time radar feature is processed almost instantly and is generally not stored long-term linked to your specific identifier once you have left the location.
- Account Data: We retain your account information and gender selection until you delete your account.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Location Services: You can choose to disable location services for the App at any time via your device settings. However, please note that the core functionality of BrewRadar (finding coffee shops and seeing crowd data) will cease to function if location services are turned off.
- Gender Information: You can view or change your gender selection at any time within the App's settings.
- Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us or using the deletion tools provided within the App.
Depending on your location (such as the EEA, UK, or California), you may have specific rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data.
6. Security
We value your trust in providing us your personal information and use commercially reasonable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Our App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or older, depending on local laws). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
